The challenge

The problem wasn't a lack of options — it was too many disconnected ones, each with its own trust model, or none at all. Facebook groups get flooded with spam. Room listings in open chat threads have no accountability. Meeting people through an anonymous app carries a different kind of risk. None of it was built for the specific reality of Nepalis relocating to a new city abroad.

Any single platform trying to replace all of that had to solve trust first — because a housing scam or a fake profile does more damage to adoption than any missing feature would.

The solution

Every member verifies their identity before they can post or message — the single decision the rest of the product is built around. There's no anonymous browsing of Connect, no unverified Rooms listings, and community moderation on top of that baseline.

The product is scoped by city first: a global "Everywhere" view for browsing, but Community, Rooms, Connect, and Jobs are all filtered to where a member actually lives, so the experience feels like a neighbourhood rather than an undifferentiated global feed.

Connect — the friendship/dating/marriage feature — is deliberately "intention-clear": members state upfront what kind of connection they're looking for, rather than leaving it ambiguous the way most dating-adjacent products do. It reads less like a swipe app and more like an introduction made by someone who already knows both people.

Outcome

Nepsphere now runs as the verified home base it set out to be: over 12,400 verified members across 18 cities, with more than 3,200 rooms and 840 jobs posted through the platform — all behind the same identity check that makes the rest of the product trustworthy.
